Magic Squares

Magic Squares

Magic squares are number puzzles with a special property: the numbers in each row, column and diagonal always add up to the same value, known as the magic number.

In the classic 3 × 3 magic square shown here, the magic number is 15. Every row, column and diagonal adds up to this value.

Magic squares have fascinated mathematicians for centuries and provide an enjoyable way to explore number patterns and logical thinking.

Magic squares are also a useful way to develop numeracy skills and mental calculation. By experimenting with different number combinations, learners can improve their understanding of arithmetic relationships and problem-solving strategies.
