Collecting and Using Your Personal Data

Types of Data Collected

Personal Data

Ask Teach does not require You to create an account in order to use the Application.

While using the Application, You may choose to provide text, questions, Scanned Text, notes, or other content. This content may include Personal Data if You choose to include it.

If You contact Us for support, We may receive the contact information and message content You choose to provide, such as Your name, email address, and support request.

AI Text and User Content

When You choose to ask a question, analyse selected text, or use an AI feature, the text You submit may be sent to an AI Service Provider for processing in order to generate an answer, explanation, summary, analysis, or similar response.

You should avoid sending private, confidential, sensitive, or personal information unless You are comfortable with that text being processed by an external AI service.

Camera, Images, and Scanned Text

Ask Teach may use Your Device camera or images You select in order to scan, recognise, and extract text. Scanned Text is used to help You choose text to ask about, search the web, copy to notes, or send for AI Processing.

Camera access is used only when You choose to use a camera-based scanning feature. Ask Teach does not use the camera continuously in the background.

Speech Input

If You use speech input, Your spoken words may be processed by Your Device, Android, Google, or another speech recognition service available on Your Device in order to convert speech into text. Ask Teach then treats the resulting text like typed text.

Text-to-Speech

Ask Teach may use Android text-to-speech features to read responses aloud. Text-to-speech is used to play back text on Your Device and does not by itself require Ask Teach to store additional Personal Data.

Local Sessions and Notes

Ask Teach can save questions, AI responses, session titles, and notes as Local Sessions and Notes on Your Device. These saved items are intended to help You review, reuse, print, or organise learning material.

Local Sessions and Notes are stored locally on Your Device. Ask Teach does not operate its own cloud sync service for saved sessions and notes.

Local Sessions and Notes remain on Your Device unless You choose to share, print, export, search the web, or send text for AI Processing.

Sharing, Printing, Exporting, and Web Search

Ask Teach may allow You to share, print, export, copy, or search selected text, questions, responses, and notes. When You choose one of these actions, the selected content may be passed to another app, print service, browser, search provider, or sharing destination chosen by You or provided by Your Device.

Usage Data

Usage Data may be collected automatically when using the Service or when communicating with third-party services used by the Application.

Usage Data may include information such as Your Device type, operating system, app version, approximate time of use, diagnostic data, crash information, or technical information needed to provide, secure, maintain, or improve the Service.

Some Usage Data may be processed by third-party Service Providers, such as AI Service Providers, speech recognition services, app distribution platforms, or diagnostic services, depending on the features You use and the services available on Your Device.

Use of Your Personal Data

The Company may use Personal Data and User Content for the following purposes:

  • To provide and maintain the Service, including enabling questions, AI responses, scanning, speech input, text-to-speech, notes, printing, and other Application features.
  • To provide AI Processing, where You choose to send text for an AI-generated answer, explanation, summary, analysis, or similar response.
  • To support Local Sessions and Notes, including saving, displaying, printing, and deleting Local Sessions and Notes on Your Device.
  • To manage Your requests, including responding to support messages or enquiries You send to Us.
  • To maintain and improve the Service, including troubleshooting, security, diagnostics, and understanding how the Application is used.
  • To comply with legal obligations, enforce Our terms and policies, and protect the security and integrity of the Service.

We may share Your information in the following situations:

  • With Service Providers: We may share information with Service Providers who help provide the Service, including AI Processing, speech recognition, diagnostics, hosting, security, or support.
  • With services You choose to use: If You choose to share, print, export, search the web, or send text to another app or service, the selected content may be passed to that app, print service, browser, search provider, or sharing destination.
  • For business transfers: We may share or transfer information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of Company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of Our business.
  • With Affiliates: We may share information with Our Affiliates where necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, in which case We will require those Affiliates to honour this Privacy Policy.
  • With Your consent: We may disclose Your information for any other purpose with Your consent.

Retention of Your Personal Data

The Company will retain Personal Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy.

Local Sessions and Notes are stored locally on Your Device until You delete them from within the Application, uninstall the Application, or otherwise remove the app’s local data from Your Device.

The Company may retain information You provide when contacting Us for support for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to Your request, maintain support records, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce Our legal agreements and policies.

Service Providers may process and retain information according to their own terms and privacy policies where You use features that rely on those services.

Transfer of Your Personal Data

Your information, including Personal Data, may be processed at the Company’s operating offices and in other places where the parties involved in processing are located. This means that information may be transferred to, and maintained on, computers located outside Your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where data protection laws may differ from those in Your jurisdiction.

Your consent to this Privacy Policy followed by Your submission of such information represents Your agreement to that transfer.

The Company will take steps reasonably necessary to ensure that Your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy, and that no transfer of Your Personal Data takes place to an organisation or country unless there are adequate controls in place, including the security of Your data and other personal information.

Delete Your Personal Data

You have the right to delete or request that We assist in deleting Personal Data that We have collected about You, subject to any legal obligations or lawful basis that may require retention.

Ask Teach allows You to delete individual chat sessions, multiple chat sessions, and related notes from within the Application. When You delete saved sessions or notes, Ask Teach removes those locally stored items from the Application’s local storage on Your Device.

Deletion from the Application does not remove copies that You may previously have shared, printed, exported, searched on the web, or sent to an external AI service or other third-party service.

If You contact Us directly and ask Us to delete support information You have provided, We will respond to Your request subject to any legal obligations or lawful basis that may require retention.

Disclosure of Your Personal Data

Business Transactions

If the Company is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, Your Personal Data may be transferred. We will provide notice before Your Personal Data is transferred and becomes subject to a different Privacy Policy.

Law Enforcement

Under certain circumstances, the Company may be required to disclose Your Personal Data if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities, such as a court or government agency.

Other Legal Requirements

The Company may disclose Your Personal Data in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to:

  • comply with a legal obligation;
  • protect and defend the rights or property of the Company;
  • prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Service;
  • protect the personal safety of users of the Service or the public;
  • protect against legal liability.

Security of Your Personal Data

The security of Your Personal Data is important to Us, but no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

While We strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect Your Personal Data, We cannot guarantee its absolute security.

You should avoid sending private, confidential, sensitive, or personal information for AI Processing unless You are comfortable with that text being processed by an external AI service.

Children’s Privacy

The Service is not specifically directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information directly from anyone under the age of 13.

Ask Teach may be used to explain topics in simpler language, but it is not intended to be a child-directed service.

If You are a parent or guardian and You are aware that Your child has provided Us with Personal Data, please contact Us. If We become aware that We have collected Personal Data from anyone under the age of 13 without appropriate consent, We will take steps to remove that information where required.

If We need to rely on consent as a legal basis for processing information and Your country requires consent from a parent or guardian, We may require that consent before We collect and use that information.

Links to Other Websites

The Service may contain links or actions that open websites, search providers, browsers, sharing destinations, print services, or other third-party apps or services that are not operated by Us.

If You click a third-party link or choose to send content to another app or service, You may be directed to that third party’s service. We strongly advise You to review the privacy policy of every site, app, or service You visit or use.

We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites, apps, or services.
